It’s always such a strange, funny coincidence, the ways that people meet their match!

You just NEVER know!

Literally, every stranger you meet, could possibly be {IT} for you!

You could bump into them at the grocery store or you could have a random conversation at a brewery…

The possibilities are truly ENDLESS & this knowledge gives me great Hope for my own future! 🙂

Jim & Melissa met through mutual friends but in a pretty unusual way…

A few years ago Melissa was planning a Road Trip to Florida to visit some friends & was asked to give this guy named Jim a ride down.

Jim was also friends with Melissa’s friends {sort of} 🙂

Jim had been online gaming with one of the guys for a while before that, they hit it off & Jim was invited down to Florida for a visit…

Melissa {reasonably suspicious} had NO IDEA that her Soul Mate would sit down beside her in the car that day!

They laugh about it now, they say that their first date was a 12 + hour road trip to Florida! 😉

I know all of this because we got together in downtown Asheville about a month ago {while they were in town to tie up loose ends for the Wedding} to shoot their Engagement Portrait Session in downtown! Naturally, we started the session with a Beer from Catawba Brewing & then bounced around downtown to a few other spots {you may recognize Pack Square Park or  Vance Monument!}

I offer Complimentary Engagement Sessions to all of my Wedding Couples {because it’s awesome} & also because it’s a really great way to REALLY get to know my clients before their Wedding Day!

Jim & Melissa will be saying I DO tomorrow at Key Falls Inn in Brevard, NC!

Congratulations guys, I’m SO Happy to be part of it!

My 2nd Ireland Wedding was held at a GORGEOUS Cathedral in Tuam, Co. Galway, Ireland on June 19, 2015!

Allen & Michelle are two of the sweetest people & it was SUCH an honor to have been part of their Big Day!

Tuam is a small city just outside of Galway {about 30 minutes away} & the Cathedral of Assumption where Allen & Michelle were Married is just Stunning!

 At every Wedding, I was always SO impressed with Irish Wedding Fashion!

{People REALLY dress up & I LOVED photographing them!} 😉

The Cathedral & the grounds surrounding it were absolutely Gorgeous & provided lots of lovely options for Family/Bridal Party Photographs after the Ceremony!

*{AND the rain stopped just long enough for us to get some great shots!}*

Along the procession route between the Ceremony and Reception, I got to witness another really sweet Irish Wedding Tradition unique to the West of Ireland!

A roadside Bon-Fire!!!

Ireland’s kinda small & in the small towns & villages {and sometimes even in the cities} everyone knows each other & when someone get’s Married, everyone in town knows it!!!

So, the locals will sometimes set roadside bon-fires along the procession route to Congratulate the Newlyweds who are on their way to their Reception!

Allen & Michelle had a BIG, Beautiful Reception following their Ceremony at Ard Ri House Hotel & I think I might’ve had as much Fun Photographing this Wedding as their Guests had attending! 😉

Enjoy!

If you’re wondering where I’ve been & what I’ve been up to this summer & why haven’t I been working…

After Andrew & Abbie’s Wilmington Destination Wedding in early June, I left the States & spent a month & a half in Ireland where I did some consulting work for a pair of Wedding Photographers from Co. Galway, Ireland & I photographed THREE Weddings in Ireland while I was at it! 🙂

While I was in Ireland, I was still taking care of business remotely!

I edited Andrew & Abbie’s Wedding Photos, answered emails, corresponded with clients & booked Fall, Winter & Spring 2016 Weddings!!!

So, I WAS working, just not in Asheville! 😉

I LOVED every, single second of my time in Ireland & one of my fondest memories was my very first Irish Wedding!

Tommy & Michelle were Married on June 12th, 2015

{three days after I landed in Ireland}!

It was SO neat to experience Irish marriage traditions, they’re similar to American traditions but there are some big differences to note:

***

While many American’s choose to tie the knot in venue’s beyond a church {mountain tops, barns, gardens, country clubs, resorts & other lavish venues created specifically for Weddings}

1. The Irish typically get Married in Churches or Cathedrals.

While many American Wedding Ceremonies are finished in 20 minutes {tops}

2. The Irish take part in a Wedding Day {full} Mass where Ceremonies typically last about an hour, give or take!

Because of this, one gets the sense that the commitment is more serious somehow…

While American Wedding guests tend to dress a little more casual-dressy for Weddings

3. The Irish really go ALL OUT!!! It’s like a Fashion Show! 😉

{3-4 piece suits, beautiful dresses with the perfect hat & bag to match & sky high heels!}

 American’s throw big parties after the Ceremony to Celebrate – called ‘Receptions’

4. The Irish throw BIG PARTIES after the Ceremony to Celebrate – called ‘Afters’

While American Weddings are about the Couple & Celebrating the union with family & friends

5. The Irish make Wedding Day more centered around Family & the joining of Families…

it’s difficult to explain, it somehow just {feels} more family centered.

More about that on the next post {Allen & Michelle’s Tuam, Ireland Wedding, later this week!} 🙂

For now, enjoy a few images from Tommy & Michelle’s Big Day!

Hold on tight! This one’s a DOOZY!

I met Abbie in April 2014 when I was photographing Charlie & Jennifer Horn’s Wedding!

Abbie grew up just west of Asheville & went to Western Carolina University where she met Jennifer & Abbie was Jennifer’s Maid of Honor that day!

About a week later, maybe it was even just a day later, I can’t remember…

Abbie calls me to book HER wedding with me & get this…

IT’S IN WILMINGTON!!!

{TODAY} 🙂

I was SO flattered that Abbie loved my photographs and I was so grateful that Jennifer & Charlie loved me & had such wonderful things to say to Abbie about me!

I have loved EVERY minute of working with Abbie & Andrew over the last year & am absolutely THRILLED to be have been their Wedding Photographer!

The nice thing about waiting till just a month before your Wedding to shoot your Bridal Portrait Session is that

{beyond the obvious – scheduling it on the same day as your hair/makeup trial run}

is that – {I} don’t have to wait so long to share the GORGEOUS photos!

Abbie was SUCH a BEAUTIFUL Bride!!!

I just love her to pieces! 🙂

Anyway, incase you missed it today, here she is:

Mrs. Johnson!

When you’ve been friends with someone for as long as I’ve known Julie Rabon, you become the kind of Friends that feel more like Family.

You become the kind of friends that share in all of Life’s many ups & downs…

You are there for each other to divide the heavy burden of sorrow or disappointment, you encourage each other & make each other laugh! You multiply each other’s JOY and you CELEBRATE the big milestones in each other’s lives because you’ve been ROOTING for each other all along! 🙂

Julie has been one of my very best friends since I was 5 years old!

{and I’ll tell ya, I never thought she’d get over JTT – that’s Jonathan Taylor Thomas for those of you who don’t get the Home Improvement reference!} LOL 🙂 jk

I digress…

There have been seasons when life has taken us in different directions, but when it’s a bond like ours, you’re ALWAYS rooting for one another, no matter what!

A little over a year ago, when Julie called to tell me about Jesse & that he had come back into her life after several years apart & told her that he had never stopped thinking about her & that he had never stopped missing her & told her that he wanted to move back to Charlotte to be with her, to give their relationship the real chance that it never got…

{Jesse moved away shortly after they met but they always kept in touch and saw each other when they could!}

I could hear it in her voice… Julie was hopeful, she was excited & THIS was different!

After Jesse moved to Charlotte, I would spend time with Julie & Jesse whenever I would come to town & I was SO Happy for my friend because it was clear, that Jesse was PERFECT for her!

When they face timed me at Christmas to casually show me a Big, BEAUTIFUL Engagement Ring, I CELEBRATED that WIN for them!

I was SO Happy for my friend!

So Happy that she & Jesse found each other again, So Happy that she’s found her life’s partner!

Over the last year, I’ve gotten to know Jesse &  I’m just so impressed with what a patient, kind, funny, wonderfully loving man he is for my friend.

I am SO. HAPPY for the two of them & I am SO Honored to be their Wedding Photographer! 🙂

I cannot wait to witness their I’DO’s this October at Eseeola Lodge in Linville, NC!

We shot their Engagement Portrait Session last month while I was in Charlotte

Julie, Jesse & I poured over wardrobe choices and bopped around to a few different places in Uptown Charlotte for their Engagement Session!

My FAVORITE photos are the ones where they make each other laugh! 🙂

Congratulations you two!

I’m so incredibly HONORED to be part of it!

I’ve been SO incredibly BUSY that I haven’t had any time at all to Blog about all of the BEAUTIFUL things that I’ve been shooting lately!

What have I been doing you ask!?

Well, I’ve been shooting A LOT of Weddings, Traveling, Shooting Engagement Sessions, Traveling some more & shooting Beautiful Bridal Portrait Sessions!!!

I’ve also been preparing for Abbie & Andrew’s big day {which is coming up this Saturday in Wilmington, NC} & have been building TWO Brand NEW WEBSITES & preparing for a SIX WEEK trip to Ireland {I’m leaving on Monday} where I’ll be photographing THREE Weddings there this June!!! 🙂

No Big Deal, right!?!

So, true to form, it’s time to play a good ole game of crazy lady blog catch up!

Let’s start with Kevin & Hannah’s Beautiful Destination Wedding at Laurel Ridge Country Club  last month!

Hannah & Kevin met when while working for the same engineering firm in Louisiana!

One look at Sweet Hannah & it’s easy to see why Kevin fell in love with her!

That smile of hers lights up every room she walks into!

Kevin’s family lives in North Carolina, so they decided to tie the knot in our Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains at Laurel Ridge Country Club in Waynesville, NC!

Hannah & Kevin planned an beautiful, intimate  Wedding with mostly just family & they even had a few of their friends who made the trip to NC to help them celebrate the occasion!

Kevin & Hannah – Thank You SO Much for asking me to be part of such a special day for the two of you & your families!

I really enjoyed getting to know you and working with you over this last year!

Many Blessings for a Long & Happy Life Together!
